Jean Monnet Chair «Strengthening EU Leadership and Capacity in Science and Innovation» (101175767—EU_STRENGHTS—ERASMUS-JMO-2024-HEI-TCH-RSCH) 2024-2027

The Jean Monnet Chair «Strengthening EU Leadership and Capacity in Science and Innovation» is headed by Associate Professor Inna Koblianska at Sumy State University since September 2024. The responsible teachers from Sumy State University are Oleksandr Kubatko,   Leonid Melnyk, Yulia Chortok. The responsible teacher from Sumy State Pedagogical University is Vitalii Omelianenko. There are also two foreign teachers from EU universities: Vasyl Kvartiuk, Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (Germany) and Oleksii Yehorchenkov, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovak Republic).

The main objective of this Jean Monnet Chair is to promote EU innovation culture and scientific values among students, scholars, businesses, government, and public and support its adoption. Specific objectives of the project include: reinforce the contribution of lifelong learning to social cohesion, intercultural dialog, and personal fulfilment through the development of EU study-courses for students, SMEs, and scholars; enhance knowledge and awareness about EU science and innovation culture; encourage tolerance and respect for other people and cultures through teaching intercultural groups of students; foster collaboration of academia, business, policymakers, and civil society to create a network of motivated persons supporting and promoting common EU cooperation principles; support integration of EU-related studies in higher education institutions within and outside the EU. Our target groups are university, college students, secondary schools pupils and Ukrainian citizens in general.

The main outputs of this Jean Monnet EU_STRENGHTS Chair are: development of project website and social media platforms; starting six open e-learning courses, publishing two textbooks,  monograph and about ten academic publications; organization of six roundtable debates, three roundtable meetings, three pitching sessions, three conferences, and about six promotional publications in media.

This Jean Monnet EU_STRENGHTS Chair contributes to strengthening the EU leadership and capacity in science and innovation: by equipping Ukrainian and foreign students, business actors, educators with knowledge and competencies on EU innovation; by strengthening the capacity of Ukrainian scholars to produce high-quality and impactful research, facilitating innovation in academia and beyond; by strengthening the relations between Ukrainian and EU research community.
