Main Actors of the project:

  1. The Department of Economics and Business Administration of the Sumy State University and the Economic Research Centre are co-ordinating the participation of leading actors of environmental education in the Ukraine. Scientists from institutions in Kyiv, Odessa, Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkov, Zaporozhje are involved in the project.
  2. The Department of Human Ecology of the Free University of Bengssels (VUB), Belgium, is co-ordinating the Flemish and European intervention in the project.
  3. Other Flemish contributors to the project are the Universities of Leuven, Ghent and Antwerp, the Erasmus High School in Bengssels and the Society for Research on Environment.
  4. Experts from Central and Eastern European countries and international organisations contribute to the achievement of the project’s objectives.

In the books the reader will find:

  • information and experience of other countries;
  • case studies of various regions, economic sectors and enterprises.

Specific attention is given to the perspectives of sustainable development in countries with economies in transition. The textbook is intended for teachers and students.

International Scientific Projects

Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration carried out a large number of international projects, including:

  • Ukrainian-Belgian Project that dealt with development and implementation into educational process a textbook and study guide “Social and Economic Potential of Sustainable Development”. These two manuals were published. They have Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine textbook and study guide mark. Free University of Brussels (VUB) was our foreign partner. Leading scientists from 15 countries: Australia, Belgium, Belorus, Ghana, Italyї, Canada, China, the Netherlands, Germany, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Check Republic, Switzerland and Japan took part in the project. In general 43 staff members of the Department of Economics and Business Administration took part in the project (including 9 graduate students and 3 students) as well as 27 foreign participants. Academician of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, Doctor of Economic Sciences V.M. Geyets, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economic Sciences B.Y. Kvasnyuk and corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economic Sciences V.I. Muntiyan also took part in the project. In general the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences were represented by the sixteen scientists. Besides the already mentioned scientists, such researchers as academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine M.Z. Zgurovskyi, V.G. Kremen, V.P. Kuhar, V.P. Semynozhenko, А.А. Chukhno, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine B.M. Danylyshyn, Doctor of Economic Sciences О.О.Veklych, Doctor of Economic Sciences М.А. Khvesyk, Doctor of Economic Sciences Y.V.Khlobystov, Candidate of Economic Sciences L.V. Zharova, Candidate of Economic Sciences L.P. Kavunenko, Candidate of Economic Sciences О.М. Ralchuk took part in the project. During the project two international seminars were conducted. The results of the project were presented at the press conference in Sumy, press-conferences at Belgian Embassies in Ukraine and Russia and international symposium in Sochi (Russian Federation). The project was conducted due to support of Flanders Government (Belgium); the mentioned textbook (in Russian and English) and study guide were published.
  • Ukrainian-Byelorussian project related to the development of methodological bases of education transformation for providing sustainable development. During the project a seminar took place in the Byelorussian State Economic University (foreign partner). 5 staff members from the Department of Economics and Business Administration and 7 persons from partner organization took part in it. The project was executed due to support of State Fund for Fundamental Studies of Ukraine and Byelorussia;
  • Ukrainian-Belgian project that dealt with elaboration of conceptual basis of ecopolicies creation as a constituent part of sustainable territorial development. During the project conceptual approaches and organizational positions for the formation of scientific-productive-educational complex for production and realization of ecological goods in Sumy Region were developed. An international conference for the discussion of approaches to the formation of regional ecopolicies was organized. Representatives from 10 regions of Ukraine, and also participants from Belgium, the Netherlands and Russia took part in the conference. Free University of Brussels was a foreign partner in the project. The project was executed due to Sumy Regional State Administration sponsorship and Belgian Embassy in Ukraine.
