As part of the course “Political Analytics. Development of Analytical Documents”, masters of the specialty “Political Science” learned to create interactive maps. The lecturer and coordinator of the course is Andriana Kostenko, Doctor of Political Sciences. The training course was prepared within the framework of the EU Jean Monnet project (Chair level): “Jean Monnet Chair in EU Economic Policy and Civil Society” (619878- EPP -1-2020-1- UA – EPPJMO – CHAIR ), which is carried out at the Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business-Administration Department of of Sumy State University (Headed by Oleksandr Kubatko).
The methodology of community mapping makes it possible to identify the community’s potential, analyze data for the further development of targeted policies and development strategies. Moreover, the community mapping technique is an effective tool for dialogue with local self-government bodies.
Classes are held in cooperation with expert practitioners. In particular, some classes were conducted with Masha Sheremet, project coordinator of the NGO “Sumy Public Circle” . Students learned how to create their own maps and planned further cooperation with the organization to fill out an interactive map of public participation ( https://rozbudova.org/ ). The acquired knowledge is important for building a civil society in Ukraine.
