Round table “Transition to the principles of social solidarity economy as a driving force of urban development”

On May 14, 2024, executor of the European Commission Jean Monnet Module grant “Social Solidarity Economy: Implementation of EU Experience for Sustainable Development” (SSExpEU – 101047518 – GAP-101047518) Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration, Ph.D., Associate Professor Yulija Chortok held the round table «Democratic governance in the social and solidarity economy of the EU” within the framework of International Scientific and Practical Online Conference “ECONOMICS FOR ECOLOGY” (EU practices of education for sustainable development).
During the round table, participants discussed the features of approaches to city development focused on social justice, environmental sustainability and economic participation of citizens. The project executors shared the results of their research of information campaigns results to raise awareness of the principles and benefits of SSE among residents; support of volunteer initiatives and projects aimed at the development of local communities; cooperation with other cities to share experience and best practices.
Together with EU experts from Great Britain and Belgium, the project executors developed recommendations for local authorities to take into account aspects of the social solidarity economy when implementing the development strategy of the Sumy city.
