Modern trends in business are in the focus of the master’s students of Sumy State University: a new course by Professor L. Melnyk

Doctor of Economics L. Melnyk, professor of the department of economics, entrepreneurship and business administration (EPBA) of Sumy State University, director of the Research Institute of Development Economics of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in September 2022 started a new cycle of classes “Modern trends in business: EU experience” for the masters students of Sumy State University.

It should be noted that this course is studied at the students’ choice. 90 students from various fields of study expressed their desire to join it: computer science; Applied Mathematics; accounting and taxation; International Economic Relations; finance, banking and insurance; electronics, law. Already at the first lecture, which took place online, 40 students took part, a significant number of whom are currently in other cities of Ukraine and even abroad due to the state of war. Taking into account that many students have to work, the teaching staff has provided an asynchronous learning mode, when students will be able to familiarize themselves with lectures, as well as other methodical materials, at a time convenient for them.

Studying the course is greatly facilitated by the availability of the textbook “Modern trends of economic development”, which was prepared under the editorship of Professor L. Melnyk and the participation of the staff of the EPBA department.

The course is based on the results of the implementation of international EU Jean Monet grant, which is currently being implemented at the EPBA department:

“Legislative, economic and social transition of the EU to a sustainable society within Industry 4.0 and 5.0” (619997-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-CHAIR) (2020–2023), headed by L. Melnyk
