As part of the autumn 2024 delivery of the course “EU Trade and International Business”, a series of guest lectures was delivered online by Professor Jean-Marc Trouille, Jean Monnet Professor at the University of Bradford, UK, and Co-Investigator of the Jean Monnet Module “Youth & Business: EU Practices for Cooperation”. The sessions brought together a mixed cohort of approximately 20 Ukrainian and international students at Sumy State University and comprised 10 hours of online lectures.
Drawing on his research on EU trade and industrial policies, government–industry relations, European business cultures and international economic cooperation, Professor Trouille helped students better understand how institutional arrangements, policy choices and different business environments shape the opportunities and constraints faced by firms operating across borders.
The guest lectures also complemented the course discussion of EU–Ukraine trade and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA). Students considered the evolving EU–Ukraine trade relationship in the wider context of European and international business, including the European Neighbourhood Policy, the Association Agreement, GATT/WTO principles, trade liberalisation, market access and other instruments affecting trade between Ukraine and the European Union.
The lectures were delivered within the framework of the European Commission project – the Jean Monnet Module “Youth & Business: EU Practices for Cooperation” (101126538 – YouthBEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH), led by Dr Bohdan Kovalov.
