Disruptive Technology Trends: Looking into the Future with School Students

During the March, 2025, lecturing and roundtable discussion titled “Disruptive Technologies in the Context of Industry 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0” was held for 10th-grade students of Sumy Secondary School No. 21, under the Sumy City Council. The event was organized and facilitated by faculty members of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration – Professor Leonid Melnyk and Associate Professor Oleksandr Matsenko.

During the roundtable, Associate Professor Oleksandr Matsenko introduced students to the project team of “Disruptive Technologies for Sustainable Development in the Context of Industries 4.0 and 5.0: EU Experience”, and presented concrete cases of disruptive innovations in modern socio-economic systems. He emphasized patterns in the life cycles of innovations.

The roundtable, moderated by Associate Professor Matsenko, also featured a lecture by Professor Leonid Melnyk, where he presented the latest research conducted by the department within the framework of the EU-funded project “Disruptive Technologies for Sustainable Development in the Context of Industries 4.0 and 5.0: EU Experience” (project number: 101083435-DTSDI-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH). During the meeting it was highlighted  that emerging trends and trajectories of disruptive innovations are transforming the socio-economic landscape.

The students showed great interest, asked insightful questions, and actively participated in the discussion.
