Inna Koblianska, an associate professor in the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration at Sumy State University, has successfully completed the prestigious Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSIs) Scholars program.
Six weeks of an intensive program (July 13-August 22, 2024), spent in the United States, transformed Inna’s understanding of American academia, culture, and innovation.
An Academic Journey to the Heart of American Scholarship
As part of the program, Inna attended lectures by leading scholars at prestigious universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Business School,and Columbia University. Discussions on pressing global economic issues, sustainable development, and innovative technologies with world-renowned researchers broadened her professional horizons and provided her with new knowledge.
Cultural Immersion
Beyond the academic component, the SUSI program offered a rich cultural experience. Visits to New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C., interactions with local communities, and participation in volunteer projects deepened Inna’s understanding of American culture and values. Visits to international organizations such as the Federal Reserve and the International Monetary Fund provided valuable insights into the processes of these institutions.
Program Outcomes and Future Plans
Participation in the SUSI program was not only a memorable experience for Inna Koblianska but also a powerful catalyst for her professional development. The knowledge and skills she acquired will enable her to introduce innovative approaches to the educational process, actively participate in international research projects, and contribute to the development of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration at Sumy State University.

The Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSIs) Scholars program is a U.S. Department of State-funded initiative designed for university faculty, researchers, and other professional leaders worldwide. Participants are selected competitively based on their professional accomplishments and potential to drive change in their home countries. The program offers an immersive experience focused on various aspects of American society, culture, values, and institutions. Its primary objectives are to:
- Provide participants with a deeper understanding of American society and culture.
- Expand knowledge of American institutions and their role in the global context.
- Foster professional relationships between American and foreign experts.
- Promote international dialogue and mutual understanding.
Each SUSI institute specializes in a specific theme, such as American political and economic systems, journalism and media, religion and society, and U.S. foreign policy.
