On October 16, 2024, the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration students and faculty were immersed in the fascinating world of space economy with a guest lecture by Dr. Gerasimos Rodotheatos.
Dr. Rodotheatos––Department Chair of Bachelor of Arts in Security and Strategic Studies, Assistant Professor, College of Security and Global Studies at American University in the Emirates––delivered a lecture titled “The Space Frontier: Economic Growth and Peaceful Utilization “. The speaker shared his profound knowledge about the evolution of space exploration, the economic prospects of space utilization, and the challenges humanity faces today, including space debris, orbital congestion, pollution, and ensuring the sustainable development of outer space.
The lecture sparked great interest and lively discussion, during which participants explored innovative solutions for space debris removal and potential technological breakthroughs in this field.

The lecture was organized at the invitation of Inna Koblianska, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department. Over 40 participants joined the event, including bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students (groups E-11/1e, E-41, PTB-41, A-31/E/1, Av-31/E, A-31/E), master’s students from China (E.m – 41 an.), and faculty members.
Dr. Rodotheatos and Dr. Koblianska are alumni of the “Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) Scholars 2024” exchange program, funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. The event fosters cooperation among SUSI Scholars alumni and their institutions.
