Students of “Economics of Environment and Natural Resources” Visited Sumy Heat Electro-Power Station |
On October 28, 2013 the students of specialty “Economics of Environment and Natural Resources” had an observation and practical tour to Sumy Heat Electro-Power Station (HEPS). The program included visits to HEPS departments and individual working units, getting acquainted with the enterprise sub-units. Students had the opportunity to learn and discuss the economic aspects of workers activity, technical and economic characteristics of the technological process, issues of resourcing that is used for the successful operation of Sumy Heat Electro-Power Station that provides heat 75 % of consumers in Sumy.
During a tour students received answers to their questions, had the opportunity to talk with decision makers of individual departments and sub-units. In particular, students-economists were interested in the question of the economic characteristics of HEPS work, especially with today’s resource constraints, of modern billing methods both for heat-and-energy resources and for environmental pollution, as well as industry characteristics of environmental damage estimation for pollution caused by power plant operation.
English-speaking students also showed themselves actively by asking questions and taking part in discussions related to the Ukrainian power plant work. There was no language barrier during the tour because it was held in both Ukrainian and English – the Department of Economics and BA teachers, who accompanied students, provide high-quality translation.
Students got outstanding impressions, good experience and a deep understanding of how the power plant mechanism works and what kind of very important job its employees provide for the city. |
