Students majoring in “Social Work” in cooperation with the NGO “Sumy Public Circle” during the course “The Civil society influence on EU integration in Ukraine” led by Andriana Kostenko have taken part in the development of interactive maps of mechanisms of interaction in the communities of Sumy region.
The course “The Civil society influence on EU integration in Ukraine” is taught within Jean Monnet Chair “EU Economic Policies and Civil Society” (619878-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-CHAIR).
The interactive map is designed to show the presence or absence of tools for such interaction and participation in communities:
- Public hearings.
- Public budget.
- Electronic appeals.
- Electronic petitions.
- Advisory and advisory bodies.
In addition, the map contains a marker such as “Development Successes”, an indicator of which is the presence or absence in communities of additional opportunities and government initiatives that enhance citizen participation in governance, as well as overall community development (project competitions, public opinion monitoring, etc. ); and “Additional Resources”, indicators of which are the presence or absence of partner organizations and other stakeholders in communities that contribute to the establishment and support of community initiatives to build civil society and affluent communities.
The monitoring of the official websites of territorial communities became the basis for the creation of an interactive map in order to assess the degree of their information openness and content in relation to the main sections defined by this methodology.
