On September 8, 2026, the second summer online school for faculty members of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” concluded. The school was held in August 2026 by Dr Bohdan Kovalov and Professor Oleksandr Kubatko of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration.
As part of the event, participants completed the intensive course “Startup the first steps in business: EU and Ukrainian Experience”. The course combined the fundamentals of entrepreneurship with practical aspects of startup development, drawing on EU practices and comparative perspectives from the EU and Ukraine.
Dr Bohdan Kovalov presented the foundations of entrepreneurship in the EU, approaches to transforming an entrepreneurial idea into a business venture, organisational forms of business in the EU and Ukraine, and the main principles and stages of startup development and business registration. Particular attention was paid to support available to young entrepreneurs and to the regulatory conditions for starting a business.
Professor Oleksandr Kubatko addressed practical aspects of running and developing a business, including taxation, franchising, EU business ethics, business planning, and opportunities for crowdfunding and fundraising in the EU and Ukraine. These topics enabled participants to consider both the managerial and financial dimensions of developing a new business.
The intensive course has been prepared within the framework of the implementation of the European Commission project – the Jean Monnet Module “Youth & Business: EU Practices for Cooperation” (101126538-YouthBEU-ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH), led by Dr Bohdan Kovalov.
