Results of the Business Ideas Contest “If I Was an Entrepreneur…”

On December 6 at Sumy State University a business ideas competition was held to develop the youth creative potential of Sumy region and to address its social, economic and environmental problems. Event organizers – representatives of the Department of Economics and Business Administration of the Faculty of Economics and Management of SSU. Contest Co-organizers – All-Ukrainian Union of scholars-economists, Sumy regional office of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The contest was attended by over 20 senior pupils from Sumy schools who presented their business ideas at the final stage of the annual contest “If I was an entrepreneur…”. In November participants developed their business ideas on the example of any products, services or works at the level of the village, city, region or country, and presented it as a creative essay. Thus, the younger generation of would-be entrepreneurs was trying to find a rational and effective solutions – from everyday life cases to the most daring dreams realization! During presentations students argued the relevance of their own business ideas and justified the ways to their implementation.

Competent jury, what consisted of teachers of the Department of Economics and Business Administration, entrepreneurs, as well as undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, chose the winners of the final stage of the competition. The contest winner title went to the pupil of Velyka-Chernetchyna specialized school of I-III stages Tetiana Kovbasa who showed non-indifferent attitude to the health of children and offered to build a baby food factory. Tetiana presented her business idea at the contest “If I was an entrepreneur…” for the second time.

A pupil of Konotop specialized school of I-III stages № 3 Anastasia Levchenko took the second place, proposing a business idea to install vending machines “Just Buy”. Anastasia shared her second place with Alina Nazarenko with her idea of a private children’s toys production – “The finger Theatre” (Velyka-Chernetchyna specialized school of I-III stages). For the first time at the contest was presented work in English under the title «If I were a businessmen» by Cristina Moura – pupil of Acad. A.F. Joffe specialized school № 2 of I-III stages about entertaining attractions for children and adults, who the jury awarded with the third place. Business idea of the pupil of Velyka-Chernetchyna specialized school of I-III stages of Sumy region Andriy Gapiyenko “Bio-Humus Production” was ranked third. Also, the jury appreciated the motorcycle taxi idea of the pupil of Alexander Gymnasium Yulia Degtyariova, who took third place.

All participants were awarded with valuable gifts.

During the day, pupils participated in an exciting quest “Feel like a real student”, which were organized by the students of the specialty “Economics of Enterprise”. At the end of the contest senior pupils had the opportunity to talk with the head of the Department of Economics and Business Administration, Prof . Leonid G. Melnyk.
