Preserving and advancing rural economies: participation of a scientist from the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration in the International Seminar

From November 13 to November 16, 2019, within the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, Professor Iryna Sotnyk took part in Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Seminar “Preserving and advancing rural economies”, which was held under the support of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State in Minneapolis (Minnesota, United States).
The seminar was attended by 90 researchers from 53 countries participating in the Fulbright 2019-2020 program, as well as representatives of state and local governments responsible for rural development and Minnesota public organizations. The meetings discussed the development of agribusiness in rural areas with the involvement of international trade mechanisms, financial institutions, aspects of managing large and small businesses in rural communities.
In addition, participants had the opportunity to visit American families and find out about current issues of local community development in the process of live communication as well as to get acquainted with the educational process at the University of Minnesota and St. Olaf College.
