During the September 2025, it was organized a cooperation between Sumy State University and National University «Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic». Particularly it was held an intensive lecturing on the course “EU practices of disruptive technologies, entrepreneurship and start-up organization: main lessons for Ukraine” for the students and teachers of National University «Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic». The lecturer of the discipline is Oleksandr Kubatko, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Ass. Professor, Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration and Kovalov Bohdan, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration.
During the cooperation between two universities the development directions of disruptive technologies were discussed. The place and role of small and medium-sized businesses in the organization of startups were discussed. During the course is was examined the functional management challenges in start-ups, such as: 1) Product Management. When and how should an early-stage start-up introduce formal product management processes (project prioritization and tracking systems, product roadmaps); 2) Engineering. How to mitigate risks in start-ups? What are the trade-offs with different approaches to software development and when does each make sense? 3) Sales. When the start-ups should perform it first sales? How to respond to business customers’ demands for product customization? 4) Marketing. How to optimize the use of different customer acquisition methods? What considerations are relevant in pricing a radical new innovation? 5) Business Development.
In general, the course provided an understanding of management and planning methods that turn ideas into viable commercial businesses.
