Student entrepreneurship and startup culture are becoming vital components of modern education, as an increasing number of young people aspire to bring their business ideas to life while still at university. A special session for students focused precisely on developing an entrepreneurial mindset and exploring opportunities to launch a business. The event took the form of a discussion with a guest speaker: Oleksandr Kubatko, Head of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration.
During the meeting, students learned about the key stages of starting a business and the opportunities currently available to young entrepreneurs in Ukraine.
The speaker placed particular emphasis on four key elements of a successful launch:
Developing an entrepreneurial mindset — cultivating proactivity and beneficial daily habits, engaging in continuous learning, and expanding professional networks;
Validating the business model via an MVP — creating a Minimum Viable Product to test actual demand and gather initial feedback from potential customers;
Official business registration — specifically, the option to quickly register as a sole proprietor (FOP) in Ukraine using the “Diia” app, while selecting the appropriate economic activity codes (KVEDs) and tax system;
Securing funding — utilizing state support programs, grants, and other tools to raise startup capital. Oleksandr Kubatko also spoke to the students about opportunities to join the SumDU startup movement, the work of the local business hub, and the activities of the Sumy Energy Equipment Machine-Building Cluster. For future specialists in publishing and printing, this engagement offers a valuable platform for bringing their creative, research, and entrepreneurial ideas to life.
The meeting took place in a warm and motivating atmosphere. Students showed keen interest in launching their own business projects, asked questions, and discussed the practical aspects of transforming an idea into a commercial product.
Up next is the “From Start to Success” practical training session, designed to help students take the next step from an entrepreneurial idea to its practical implementation.
