Disruptive technologies as the key to the future: completion of the cycle of classes for undergraduate students of Sumy State University

The cycle of classes on “Disruptive technologies and socio-economic trends in business. The experience of the EU and the practice of Ukraine” for undergraduate students of Sumy State University have finished in spring 2024. Lectures were given by Leonid Melnyk, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration (EPBA) of Sumy State University, Director of the Research Institute of Development Economics of the Ministry of Education and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Practical classes were prepared and conducted by Doctor of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Oleksandr Matsenko.

Students of the following specialties took part in the cycle of classes:

  • Environmental protection technologies,
  • Applied Mathematics,
  • Computer Science,
  • Computerized control systems,
  • Electronic information systems,
  • Finances,
  • Marketing,
  • International Economic Relations,
  • Philology,
  • Psychology, etc.

During the classes the contents of disruptive technologies (Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, virtual and augmented realities, algorithmic technics, etc.) for sustainable economy basic components (greener production and services, greener energy industries, IT sectors, creative economies, etc.) were shown. The best EU practices for reproduction of sustainable economy system: ensuring demand and supply for sustainable goods and services, greening working places, motivate incentives and economic relations, reproduction of sustainable human (consumer, producer, designer, technologist, manager, teacher and communicator) are analyzed. Role of social preconditions such as European democratic institutes and values were explained.

The cycle of classes was prepared as part of the EU Jean Monet project, which is currently being carried out at the EPBA department:
