Economics for Military Servants: Graduation of Social Adaptation Courses

In SSU a solemn graduation ceremony was held for listeners of social adaptation courses for military servants in the frames of a joint project of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the OSCE entitled “Assistance in social adaptation of retired military servants”. Thirty military servants who are to be retired from military service, was retrained on direction “The organization and management of small and medium enterprises” at the Department of Economics and Business Administration.

During two months, teachers of the Department of Economics and Business Administration conducted lectures, workshops and counseling on a special study program, which provided gaining practical skills by listeners of courses on the basics of managing their own business.

As a result of study all graduates of courses obtained the bills according to the state standard and certificates of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the OSCE. Representatives of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine office, local authorities, the university administration, the command of the garrison, media and alumni of previous courses took part in the graduation ceremony.

According to the Rector A.V. Vasyliev, a program of social adaptation of military servants corresponds to the socially-oriented philosophy of the university, as in the frames of SSU many social projects are implemented. Also rector noted that these courses have become an important stage for the military servants in their social and professional adjustment to civilian life, greatly expanded the possibilities for changing the sphere of work, employment and future career growth.

Head of Resource and career center for retired military servants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted the high scientific and methodological quality of teaching at the Department of Economics and Business Administration and awarded the certificates of honour to the Head of the Department of Economics and BA professor L.G. Melnyk, and to associate professor O.V. Shkarupa.

L.G. Melnyk congratulated the graduates and said that these courses are valuable experience as it is needed to constantly learn and improve your knowledge, which is extremely important skill in this fast-changing world.

Thus, at the current state of employment sector retraining of military servants becomes an important stage in their social and professional adjustment to civilian life and improvement of their competitiveness level at the labor market.
