Leonid Melnyk In this publication argued the translation of the term “sustainable development” in the scientific literature and documentation in Russian and Ukrainian languages. The history of the emergence of the term, evolution and problems of its use in the Russian and Ukrainian scientific sphere are described. Proposed and justified the author’s translation of the term “sustainable development” taking into account language features. Original texts are in Russian and Ukrainian languages.
