У Сумському державному університеті з вересня 2020 року під керівництвом д.е.н., проф. Леоніда Мельника виконується грант Європейської комісії кафедра Жана Моне «Законодавчий, економічний та соціальний перехід ЄС до сталого суспільства в межах Індустрії 4.0 та 5.0» (619997-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-CHAIR) (2020-2023). Відповідальними виконавцями від Сумського державного університету є Ірина Дегтярьова, Олександр Кубатко, Богдан Ковальов, Олександра Карінцева, Юрій Дерев’янко, Олександр Маценко.

• підготовлено 29 статей у періодичних виданнях та підготовлено доповіді для 8 конференцій.
• розроблено комплекс презентаційних матеріалів та рекомендації щодо проведення занять для забезпечення відповідних навчальних циклів;
• сформовано мережу університетів-партнерів: (Сумський державний університет (Суми, Україна), Полтавський Національний технічний університету ім. Ю. Кондратюка (Полтава, Україна), Одеський національний політехнічний університет (Одеса, Україна); Харківський національний університет ім. В.Н. Каразіна (Харків, Україна); Донецький національний університет імені Василя Стуса (Вінниця, Україна); Сумський Національний аграрний університет (Суми, Україна), Харківський національний економічний університет ім. С. Кузнеця (Харків, Україна), Поліський національний університет, Національний університет ім. І Франка, Київський Національний університет ім. Т. Шевченка, для залучення широкої громадськості щодо співпраці по європейським студіям та обговорення проблематики співпраці між Україною та ЄС.
• виконано комплекс наукових робіт та навчальних програм для наповнення змістом кафедри з напряму: «Законодавчий, економічний та соціальний перехід ЄС до сталого суспільства в межах індустрій 4.0 та 5.0». Виконання робіт обумовило проведення наукових досліджень, пов’язаних із аналізом таких нових понять як «цифрові трансформації», «адитивна економіка», «сестейновість економічних систем», «проривні технології».

Результати наукових робіт були опубліковані в більш ніж 74 наукових та навчальних публікаціях.
