In October-November 2024, the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration, together with the Department of Marketing at Sumy State University (SumDU), successfully implemented a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) course in partnership with the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, USA.
The course coordinators from SumDU were Associate Professor Inna Koblianska and the Head of the Marketing Department, Tetyana Pimonenko. From the Sam M. Walton College of Business, the course was led by Dr. Sarah Grace. This initiative resulted from six months of faculty members collaborating to design and implement the course.
The course, titled “Promotional Campaign on Sustainable Lifestyle at the Campus: COIL Course,” aimed to deepen students’ knowledge and skills regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainable lifestyles, and the role of trust and promotion in advancing SDG initiatives. Equally important was the invaluable experience students gained through live communication and teamwork in intercultural settings.
Post-course surveys revealed significant improvements in students’ intercultural communication skills, English language proficiency, use of diverse communication tools, and awareness of the SDGs. Additionally, students could find new friends, learn more about the United States, and gain insight into their peers’ academic and everyday lives in another country.
A total of 80 students participated in the course, including over 40 students from the Institute of Business, Economics, and Management at Sumy State University, majoring in Marketing (075), Economics (051), and Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Stock Exchange Activities (076).
The students successfully presented their projects and received certificates for their achievements.
We look forward to continuing this initiative next year. Join us!
