Participation in Research Paper Development Bootcamp as a Part of the Swiss National Science Foundation Grant

From November 5 to 9, 2015 scientists of the Department of Economics and Business Administration – Professor of the department Iryna Mykolayvna Sotnyk and PhD graduate Liudmyla Kulyk – as members of the delegation of the Faculty of Economics and Management, headed by the Dean of FEM Olga Volodymyrivna Prokopenko took part in Research Paper Development Bootcamp «Renewable Energy, Sustainability, Environment and Innovations Research», that was held at the University of Tartu (Tartu, Estonia) in the framework of SCOPES project of the Swiss National Science Foundation.

The purpose of the Research Paper Development Bootcamp is to give the participants an opportunity to present their scientific works (both completed and in the process of development) to discuss them in a small interactive group providing the resulting recommendations for the improvement of scientific research. Research bootcamp was attended by 20 scientists: professors and graduate students from Switzerland, Finland, Estonia and Ukraine, whose studies aimed at certain aspects of renewable energy sources use and related environmental issues. The program of research bootcamp was interesting and rich. Presented research projects caused considerable interest in the audience and fruitful discussions as a result.

During their stay in Estonia FEM scientists visited AHHAA scientific and entertainment center (own project of the University of Tartu), the mission of which is to show that learning can be interesting and exciting by offering visitors the joy of discovering new things. AHHAA Center is trying to change public opinion about science in a positive way, motivates to learn throughout whole life by creating attractive, innovative, multi-functional environment for learning and scientific developments demonstration, offering for this services and entertainments aimed at acquiring new knowledge.

At AHHAA center FEM scientists got acquainted with the latest achievements in science and the mysteries of the immense world of the natural sciences, as well as discovered the unique opportunity to have fun and acquire knowledge simultaneously.

Also, SSU representatives visited the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Tartu, where they had the opportunity to meet the head of the Department of International Business and Innovation Urmas Varblane as well as explore the laboratory of ideas of the University of Tartu – an innovative environment for students of different faculties who are working on joint projects.

Bootcamp participants were grateful to the organizers for the excellent organization of the event, positive emotions and fruitful work. Therefore, a short but intense research visit to Tartu inspired Ukrainian scientists to look for new ideas and scientific developments to implement them at the Department of Economics and Business Administration and the Faculty of Economics and Management of Sumy State University.
