On October 12, 2022, an online seminar was held for master’s students of the educational programs “Economics and Business Innovations”, “Business Administration” and “Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Logistics”. The workshop was hosted by the Maryland Transportation Institute. Dr. Anna Alberini and Giovanni Santoboni presented their research on electric vehicle adoption and usage in the Washington DC metro area. They explored five questions: 1. Do all-electric or plug-in hybrids tend to be the second (or even third) vehicle owned by a household? 2. Are they driven less than the other vehicles owned by the household? 3. Are they driven primarily to and from work? 4. Are the driving patterns of battery vehicles different in other ways from those of conventional vehicles? 5. How does the charging infrastructure affect ownership and use of battery vehicles?
