Lecture On Start-ups in Silicon Valley

On May 20 the Department of Economics and Business Administration hosted a lecture on the experience in launching start-ups in Silicon Valley. The lecture was delivered by Kateryna Kondrunina the research fellow of the Department who spent last six months in California (US) working with her team on a start-up launch in Silicon Valley.

The lecturer told about the main difficulties when starting your own projects as well as about the great opportunities and rewards if succeeded. It was told about the main types of investors were considered with their opportunities and the principles on which they make decisions whether to support a start-up. In particular, the primary criterion for positive answer is the level and capabilities of the start-up team.

Kateryna’s own project was also mentioned. With her team they work on launch of the program which uses cloud computing to improve the productivity of computer devices. The development started in Turkey. Team consists of 24 people, mainly software developers. Beside Kateryna herself the team includes more representative of Ukraine. As Kateryna says, their project is about to be launched and have already attracted the attention of many stakeholders.
