Lectors, postgraduates and students of Department – participants of the round table in Kharkiv

On April 4, 2013 in Kharkiv there was held a round table “Environmental Aspects of Shale Gas Production in Ukraine: Problems and Solutions”.

The work of the table was attended by scientists from the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academy of Mining Sciences of Russian Federation, NGOs, government and local authorities. The main purpose of the roundtable was to highlight the range of issues related to the problem of shale gas extraction in Ukraine and the development of proposals for preventing the exploration and production of shale gas in the Yuzivska area (Kharkiv region).

Department of Economics and Business-Administration was presented by C.E.S., assoc. prof. L.M. Taranyuk, C.E.S. B.L. Kovalyov, postgraduate V.I. Voronenko, postgraduate T.A. Kurbatova, postgraduate T.I. Skibina and student of gr. E-21 A.Y. Bavykina.

From Sumy delegation the report “Challenges of Shale Gas Extraction in Ukraine” was presented by C.E.S., assoc. prof. Leonid Myckolayovych Taranyuk, who emphasized the environmental and economic problems of shale gas extraction in Ukraine and other countries’ experiences in this regard.

In general, most of the round table participants were against shale gas extraction in Ukraine. Following consideration of the issues at the event, it was decided to provide a decision of the round table to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the protest against the exploration and production of shale gas in Ukraine.
