During the Spring semester 2025, it was organized a cooperation between Sumy State University and National University \u00abYuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic\u00bb. Particularly it was held an intensive lecturing on the course \u201cThe EU experience for shaping sustainable economy within Industries 4.0 and 5.0\u201d for the students and teachers of National University \u00abYuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic\u00bb. The lecturer of the discipline is Oleksandr Kubatko, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Ass. Professor, Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration and Kovalov Bohdan, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration.
\nOleksandr started from the basic points of Sustainable development and explained the main sustainable development goals. Then the attention was switched to SMEs and necessity to determine the factors driving or hindering their growth. SMEs face numerous obstacles, ranging from bureaucracy and corruption by state authorities to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was underlined that in EU SMEs typically fulfill several socio-economic functions within an economy, including 1) involvement in the economic turnover of material, natural, financial, human, and informational resources that often go unnoticed by larger companies; 2) engaging in barter operations that strengthen production; 3) enhancing market conditions by ensuring market elasticity and regulating demand, supply, and prices.
\nThe cycle of classes was prepared as part of the Jean Monet EU project, which is currently being carried out at the economics, entrepreneurship and business administration department of Sumy State University: \u201cDisruptive technologies for sustainable development in conditions of Industries 4.0 and 5.0: the EU Experience\u201d (101083435 -DTSDI – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH) (2022-2025) headed by O. Kubatko
